Explore the principles of free speech and assembly in public places and learn how to control materials collections, art displays, meeting rooms and other public places; and, how to handle protests and challenges when they arise.
Learning Outcomes:- Attendees will learn the principles of freedom of speech, access and assembly guaranteed by the United States Constitution and how they operate in different contexts.
- Attendees will be able to analyze situations and incidents on library property and determine proper and permissible limitations on speech and activity in the library and on its grounds.
- Attendees should apply their knowledge to develop policies and procedures to avoid conflict and challenges in their libraries.
